Hairdressing Level 3 Diploma
All students will be based within Academy38 (our professional high street salon) where Hair or Beauty students learn their trade, creating a portfolio of work completed on real-life clients who visit. Services that the Academy38 salon provides include: Haircuts, hair colours, manicures, make-up application and other beauty services.
All of our courses include a work placement element with a local employer in addition to learning within the working environment. We have partnerships with a range of local employers where you will undertake the workplace element of your course.
- Cut women’s hair to create a variety of looks
- Style and dress hair using different techniques
- Colour hair to create a variety of looks
- Use multiple creative hairdressing design skills
- Perm hair to create a variety of looks
- Optional units will include hair extensions, bridal hair and creating promotional displays of stock
- To monitor and maintain health and safety
- Consultation support skills for colleagues on hair services
Additional skills: This course not only provides you with knowledge and practical skills, but it also equips you with the skills employers are looking for. We are unique in that we also have a strong focus on confidence and people skills.

Course lecturers: Our lecturers have experience in the hairdressing field, including staff members who began their careers as apprentices at TONI&GUY and worked their way up to train hairdressers.
Our facilities: You will bring your skills to life in our fully equipped salon. Our salon reflects that of a real working environment, equipping you with the skills needed to succeed.
Kit required: A hairdressing kit and the uniform – one tunic and one pair of trousers

Meet your lecturer
Ellie is a qualified lecturer and hairdresser and is passionate about hairdressing and education. With more than 10 years of industry based experience, Ellie trained at the TONI & GUY Academy, and has a long-standing career of training hairdressing professionals including apprentices prior to joining The Maltings College as sector lead and hairdressing lecturer. Ellie ensures that our trainees are at the forefront of the latest techniques and trends, regularly attending sessions with companies such as L’Oreal and Theta for hair extensions training. This ensures students at the college enter the profession with the skills to deliver the latest trends for clients.
