We use networking equipment which allows you to set up and configure networking hardware such as switches and routers. We also use virtual services to reflect networking in a classroom.

Additional skills: This course has an industrial focus, basing your learning on real workplace scenarios, ensuring that you also develop important communication, team work and problem solving skills, preparing you for the workplace. Start date: September 2017
Course lecturers: The course lecturer has five years of teaching experience, leading both A- level and college courses. These include IT, Creative Media and Computer Science courses.
Our facilities: Our computer labs are equipped with state-of-the-art computers. The latest software is installed on these computers and can be utilised by students.
Kit required: All students require The Malting’s College uniform and two textbooks.

Shyla Khan, IT Networking and Support BTEC Level 3 lecturer
Shyla is a qualified IT Studies lecturer, with a wide range of experience delivering IT based qualifications. She currently leads the delivery of IT courses at The Maltings College, supporting students to achieve their target grades and succeed in this fast-paced sector. As part of this, Shyla keeps up-to-date with her own professional skills and knowledge to ensure that trainees are equipped with the knowledge and understanding employers are looking for in a digital world. Due to her specialisms, Shyla also regularly delivers IT based training to colleagues so that they too can get the very most from the IT resources at The Maltings College.
